The Maine Flight

It was a gorgeous day and we set out on a flight to beautiful Maine. Our friends, Matt & Andrea came with us. The 3 1/2 hour flight was long but relaxing.

Upon arriving in Lewiston, we found our hotel (which was NOT "as advertised"!) and decided to find something to eat. Hit the GPS up for food options and it takes you right to the local on the lake, outdoor seafood eatery! They served us the most delicious shrimp, scallops and NEW ENGLAND clam chowder!

After a not so good nights rest and an awake time of 5:50 a.m. (Yeah, and we didn't even have kids with us! DISGUTING!) We set out to Freeport. Cute, but touristy.
But, we were glad for the 24 hour LL Bean store since is was only 7:30! :) We drove around looking for a nice place to see the coast, but all we found were beautiful, dream homes.
So, we decided to to the tourist thing in Freeport. Lunch at 11 at The Chowder House and then we were off to Booth Bay Harbor!

Why didn't we start there? Gorgeous!!! I guess we should all learn a lesson here...ANDREA IS ALWAYS RIGHT!
After buying some of the best cheese ever, we saw the coast! It was actually a bay, but it would do! We ate appetizers and drank sangrai on a 3rd floor deck. (There are pics, but they aren't mine to post! ;) )
Oh, and don't forget the trolley tour our Lancaster County husbands found and wanted to take because it was FREE! OMW! Then off to relax at a park overlooking the bay. And after hearing Mark say for 24 hours, "Can you tell me where I can find a lobster pound?" he found 2 and paid $17 for 3 lbs!

Sunday dawned beautiful in Maine, but the ride home didn't look so great! Our pilot suggested flying 1/2 way and stopping for a few hours to miss any storms. Bridgeport, CT was our layover of choice. A quick lunch along the Long Island Sound and a trip to Yale! (We were hoping to catch a glimpse of Rory. But, don't tell our husbands!) Then back on the plane.
Did I mention that we were in the clouds the entire flight which makes me very nervous. 15 minutes from home, My Love turns around, "We have to go back to Allentown. Storms over Lancaster!" Blood Pressure, Pulse, Nerves all shot through the roof! Allentown was 15 min in the other direction. It was pouring, I couldn't see a thing, I didn't know where we were, there was lightning! We were in the middle of a small storm cell. Crashing up and down. I had my goodbye text ready for the girls. In hindsight, we think it was only 20 seconds, but we landed safely. Thank you, Jesus! We were fortunate enough to watch a Southwest flight take off while lightning struck the ground right beside it. Yeah, nice!? After another 1 hour layover, we headed back to Lancaster. My Love claims he was never nervous! HA!
